Top 5 Reasons People Fail To Get What They Want In Their Life

April 20th, 2009

I believe that everyone wants to be successful and I believe that everyone wants to be wealthy. Do you want to be financially free and achieve great success in your life? If you answer is a big YES, you should continue to read on.

Many people are looking for ways how they can be successful, but they’ve never thought of why they’re not successful. Knowing why is the most important principle to success. You’ve to find out what is stopping you before you can go full out and start your journey to success.

It is just like driving a car. When you’re driving and you found that you have your emergency brakes on, what will you do? You will simply release the emergency brakes so that you can go faster and smoother. It is impossible that you will keep accelerating if you knew your emergency brakes is on. This is just the same like finding out the reasons you’re not successful.

By knowing why you’re not successful YET, you’ll be able to release these “brakes” and go full force forward to achieve what you want in your life.

So here are the top 5 reasons people fail to get what they want in their life. If you are serious about getting what you want and be successful, this is what you must go through, identify the factors that hold you back so that you can ‘release’ them and put in 100% commitment to play the game of success…

1. They Are Not Visionary Enough

Do you know exactly what you want in your life? What is your 5 years goal? What do you want to accomplish in the next 10 years? Most people don’t know what they really want in their life, that is why they find it hard to be successful and that is why they live a mediocre life just like most people.

If you want to be extraordinary, you must know exactly where you are heading. You have to know the direction where you are heading. Successful people know it crystal clear what they want and they are constantly moving toward that point in their life.

You cannot hit a target without knowing where the target is. So don’t be a lost sheep and dangling in nowhere. You must identify the purpose for you to keep living on. You’ll live like a zombie, an undead if you don’t know what you want in your life. You live with your physical body but you did not know what you want in the end.

And always remember this, knowing what you want is the first and the most fundamental step to success. You cannot proceed to the next step to achieve what you want if you simply do not know what you want in your life.

2. They Are Not Thinking About What They Want All The Time

One of the biggest differences between successful people and ordinary people is that successful people think about what they want most of the time, while ordinary people think about what they don’t want most of the time. When you think about what you want all the time, you will create a strong stimuli in your mind telling yourself what you have to do to get it.

The key to success is to keep thinking of what you want most of the time. If you keep on thinking what you want, you will instill the idea of achieving what you want in your mind, and hence your mind will focus in getting you there. This is why successful people keep on talking about what they. They seem like cannot get away from the topic that they like so much about.

And this is what you must follow through and do the same. Stop thinking about what you don’t want from now on. Focus on thinking what you want ALL THE TIME. The more you think about it, the more likely you will achieve it. If you don’t believe me, just think about what you think in the last few months and think about your current life right now. Are you living the kind of life you think about in the last few months?

This is why visualization and affirmation work so well because when you visualize or when you affirm what you want, you’re actually thinking about it. Your thinking is the most powerful tool that you must leverage on. If you use it wisely, you will definitely achieve whatever you want in your life.

3. They Are Not Putting 100% Commitment To Achieve What They Want

Are you willing to do whatever it takes to achieve what you want in your life? Will you sacrifice your movie time, sleep less, arise earlier, and spend more effort into achieving your dreams and your goals? This is what successful people ARE WILLING to do.

Successful people are determined and they are committed to get what they want. They will arise early and sleep later just because of their dreams. Once you make a 100% commitment to something, there are no exceptions. It’s a done deal. Non-negotiable. Case closed! Over and out. If you make a 100% commitment to achieving your goals, that’s it. You’ll never doubt yourself whether you will be able to do it or not. There are no exceptions no matter what the circumstances. It ends the discussion, it closes the door, permits no other possibility and you will do whatever it takes to achieve them.

If you make a 100% commitment to exercise everyday for 30 minutes, no matter what, it is settled. You simply just do it. It doesn’t matter if you are traveling, if you have a 7.00am meeting, if it’s raining outside, if you went to bed late last night, if your schedule is full, or if you simply don’t feel like it. You just do it anyway.

It’s like brushing your teeth before you go to bed. You always do it, no matter what. If you find yourself in bed and you have forgotten, you get out of bed and brush them. It doesn’t matter how tired you are or how late it is. You just do it. This is what I mean by putting 100% commitment.

When you put in 100% commitment, you will definitely achieve what you want in your life.

4. They Are Not Commit To Never-Ending Improvement

The average person never read a book after they graduated from their school. Thus, if you can read a book each week, you’ll have read 4 books in a month, around 50 books in a year. What about if this keep going on for the next 3 or 5 years? Within 3 years, you’ll have read 150 books and in 5 years, you’ll have read 250 books. Can you imagine how powerful this is?

Say, if you want to be a real estate millionaire, so you choose to read books related on real estate. What can these books do on you in your life? Can you imagine that? It is so powerful that it will put you in the top 5% in your industry! This is why successful people constantly learn along their journey to success. They know it very well that by constantly learning in their life, they will become better and better each day.

Whenever you set out to improve the quality of your life, start it small. For example, if you set out to improve your skills or behavior, a set of manageable steps will give you a greater chance of long-term success. Doing too much too fast not only overwhelms you, it can doom the effort to failure. When you start with small, achievable steps, you can easily master, it reinforces your belief that you can easily improve.

Just like developing the habit of reading everyday. You don’t need to force yourself to finish a book in a week. You can start slowly by spending 1 hour into reading everyday. Start small and keep on improving until you get the results you desire.

5. They Are Not Doing Something That Will Bring Them What They Want

This is the most common reasons people fail to get what they want in their life. The world doesn’t pay you for what you know, it pays you for what you do. No matter how clever you are, how many degrees you owned or how many PhD’s you have, you will still be broke and live a mediocre life if you’re putting those knowledge into work.

When you take action, you trigger all kinds of things that will inevitably carry you to success. You let those around you know that you’re serious about your dreams and your goals. People will start paying attention on you. People with similar goals will be aligned with you. You begin to learn things from your experience that cannot be learned from listening to others or from reading books. All manner of good things begin to flow in your direction once you begin to take action.

To be successful, you’ve to do what successful people do, and successful people are highly action-oriented. They simply get up and do what has to be done. Once they have developed a plan, they start. They get into motion. Even if they don’t start perfectly, they learn from their mistakes, make the necessary corrections, and keep taking action, all the time building momentum, until they finally produce the result they set out to produce.

These are the top 5 reasons people fail to get what they want in their life. I hope that after you’ve went through this post, you’ll see the big picture why most people fail to achieve what they want and how you can be different. Success is a matter of identifying what you want and getting the things done.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. So take this one step now and all the other steps will open to you. Like what Martin Luther King Jr says, “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.”

4 Common Reasons Why Most People Fail

April 30th, 2008

Everybody is pursuing for success, no matter who you are now today, you want to be successful in everything you do don’t you? I believe that even if you ask a beggar, is it that he wants to be successful? You bet, he will say yes. Everyone wants to be successful, but more than 90% of them are going to fail this quest. Why? Good question, let us discover why…

Success Is 99% Failure

In my opinion, there are only a few MAIN REASONS that make people fail. Below are the 4 main reasons why most people never achieve their goals in life. If you can overcome these 4 obstacles, you can practically achieve anything.

1. Limiting Belief

The most important thing, our belief system. Ask yourself this question, do you actually believe that you can earn $10,000 a month? Do you believe that you can achieve anything you want in your life? If you don’t believe it, how are you going to achieve it? Many people dream about how they live their perfect life, how much they earn, where they want to go vacation, what car they are driving, but they are just merely dream about it.

They never really committing any rock-and-solid actions to make their dreams come true. Think about it, when you are driving in your car, and suddenly your ‘dream car’ overtake your car. What comes into your mind? Most people will think it this way, “Nice car, but I can’t afford it”. This is the limiting belief that is going to stop you from achieving it!

You now know that these are nothing but limiting beliefs. Unless we break past these generalizations about ourselves, we will never dare to design goals that drive us to the next level. Your Beliefs Determine Your Success, very true, read it and you will discover how our belief system plays an important role in our life.

2. Not Having A Clear Goal

Many people know that they have to be successful in life, but they don’t know what they want actually! All they know is that they have to somehow achieve something, but they never really know what is it that they want to achieve. They don’t have a clear goal. This is one of the big problems that most people face today.

It is not that people don’t know what they want. What has truly happened is that most people have stopped daring to dream. I believe that as kids, all of us had fantasies and dreams of what we wanted to have and be when we grow up. However, as we went through life, we meet with so many failures and disappointments that our rationale, critical mind has forbidden us to continue day dreaming anymore.

You must be very specific about what you want in life, only then you will achieve it. Take Tiger Woods as example, he knew that he wanted to be the number one golfer since he was still a kid. What about Warren Buffet? He too, knew that he wanted to make millions with investment. So, if you still blur with your path today, spend some time to find out what exactly that you want to achieve in your life.

You cannot reach somewhere without knowing where is it that you want to reach. I mean, it is a common sense, if you don’t know what you want, how are you going to achieve it? To set clear goals, you must follow some steps and some criteria, if you don’t know how, click and read this, The #2 Ingredient For Success.

3. Fear Of Failure

Does this mean that people who keep setting goals do not fear failure? Frankly, do you failed before? Do you afraid of failing? Many people have this ‘phobias’ toward doing what they failed before. This fear of failure, of rejection and embarrassment is what probably paralyzes most people from even starting out. Failure? I don’t believe so. I think everyone hates and fears the feeling of failure, including myself.

What then gives them the courage to set high goals and go for it? It is how we define failure to ourselves. The only one who can tell us that we failed and make us feel bad is… ourselves. Yet, this is how we often shoot ourselves in the foot. The moment we do not achieve what we want, even on our first attempt, we tell ourselves we have failed, and feel really bad. This pain is what prevents us – and this goes for the majority of people – from daring to try for high stakes, to taking risks.

Have you ever heard of the story of barracuda? If you haven’t, then be sure to read this post of mine, You Are Not A Barracuda. Read it, it is an interesting post, and I believe that it will open up your mind about how you perceive failure.

4. Staying In The Comfort Zone

There are still many other reasons making people fail in their life, this is not going to be the last. Just that in my opinion, these are the 4 common reasons people fail. So, in order to be successful in your life, you have to get out of your comfort zone. If you keep on staying in your comfort zone, you are not going to achieve anything.

Ask yourself this question, “Are you going to achieve what you wanted if you keep on with your life like this?” Most of the time, the answer will be a NO. Simply because many of us are staying in our comfort zone, we are afraid to change, we fear for the pain due to changes. Take consistent action from now on if you really desire for success, The #4 Ingredient For Success.

Most people are risk averse because they are addicted to a way of life: a soft life, a cushy life with habits and material comforts they are loathed to change or risk losing. Unless that comfy life-style is imminently under threat, they won’t do anything that calls for iron will and discipline. Setting goals and really going for our goals often means changing habits, sacrificing time spent hanging out with friends. This is why people make half-hearted attempts. As soon as their new path
impinges on their old habits, they withdraw… it’s too hard.

These are the 4 common reasons why people fail. You know that to achieve great success, you have to put in real efforts and be committed with it. Remember this, there are no shortcuts to success. So, always be prepared to make what appears to be ‘sacrifices’ and, if you do, the rewards are there.
