How To Cure Inaction And Build Momentum In The Same Time

August 9th, 2011

Do you know that putting your thoughts into action is one of the most difficult challenges that you are going to face in life? In fact, inaction is actually the number one killer of all successes.

inactivity procrastinateThere are a lot of great ideas flowing through your mind each day, but because of inaction, those great ideas become dead. Extraordinary people are great because they make the impossible possible by making their thoughts and their dreams a reality.

I believe that you will some time have the difficulty to take action. You will feel so hard to do it and you just do not have the drive and motivation to do it. And I have a very effective and powerful solution for inactivity. What you are going to learn below can change your life if you apply this technique and transform yourself into a productive person who always makes things happen.

I understand that some time the spirit and the motivation are just not there. This is why you put things off and you procrastinate. Some time it is difficult to come up the drive to wake up early and go for jogging. Some time it is difficult to have the spirit to practice yoga. Some time it is difficult to have the motivation to read and study.

However, there are also time when you have total motivation to do something. I believe that some time you will have the drive to read and study for hours straight because the spirit is just there. And some time you will have the motivation to take action simply because you are driven.

There is one thing that you need to notice here. Do you ever notice that whenever you feel motivation or driven, you are already in the moving?

Many times, when you feel totally motivated, it is the time when you are actually doing the thing. And this is what drives you forward to accomplish more in your life. Therefore, all you need to do is to start your engine and you will have the drive and build up the momentum to go further.

It is exactly like a car. You need to start the engine and warm it up so it can perform better. The same principle applies for the law of momentum. It is hard to push a car to move in the beginning. However, once it started to move, the momentum will build up and you will need less energy to push it.

So how can you apply this principle to help you in your journey to success? How can you use this powerful law to build your momentum so that you will have all the energy to take action and make your dreams come true?

The answer is by starting your engine mechanically.

Yes, all you need to do is to start the engine mechanically without putting in any thought. If you feel difficult to make the calls, just pick up the phone, dial the number and talk, without thinking anything. After a few calls, you will build up the momentum and move the spirit.

The same thing happens if you feel that it is difficult to read and study. Most people will feel sleepy when they opened up the book. They will then find a lot of excuses such as they have eaten too full, they need to call their partners, they need to clean up the closet and many other lousy excuses to procrastinate.

If you are a salesman and you are afraid to knock on a stranger’s door, just do it mechanically. Do not think about anything, empty your mind, just walk straight to the door, knock it, smile, greet the owner and start your presentation. After doing this for a few times, you will build up the momentum and you will have the drive to do it none stop.

Remember, just do it mechanically without putting in much thought. You just want to get it started. You do not have to wait for the spirit to come to you; you can create and move the spirit by using this technique.

Sometimes I find it difficult to come up with ideas for this blog as well. However, I will just open my Microsoft Word and start to type something to get it started. And when I do that, the ideas will start to flow and I will come up with things to write.

Try out this technique and see how powerful and effective it is. Whenever you do not have the motivation to do something, just dig it deeper and do it without thinking or putting any thought into it. In almost no time at all, you will feel the spirit and the momentum will come to you.

What you are going to find out here are the 7 golden tips to be effective. This is not something that is difficult to practice or rocket science that is complicated to understand. In fact, these tips are simple and they are easy to implement. It is just whether you are willing to follow through.

effective time managementSo here are the 7 tips that can help you…

1. Plan your day the night before

You can plan earlier if you wanted to, but make sure you plan the latest by the night before the next day. This will save you a lot of time when the next day arrives. You already know what you need to do and you do not have to waste your time thinking about what to do.

It is simple, you just need to get a notepad and write down all the tasks that you need to do. Or you can use your mobile phone as a reminder and key in all the tasks that you need to get done. Another very important key that you will get from this habit is that you will actually get those important things done first.

Just imagine that if you did all the important things in the morning, you will have a lighter and extra time to do other stuff in the afternoon. This will also give you the feeling of satisfaction and confidence.

2. Prioritize the list

If you are going to write down all the tasks that you are going to do for the following day, make sure you prioritize them. There is no point to make a list and do all the unimportant tasks first and leave yourself no time for the important tasks.

Just number each task and you will know what to do. Usually, the important task will be the task that is difficult to do. Highly likely the task will be something that you hate to do or you feel difficult to do or maybe you just want to procrastinate it. So get the most important and the most difficult task done first in the morning and you will feel great after that.

3. Stick to your list

The main key you create a list is that you want to be effective by following through it. If you are not going to follow through your list, there will be no reason creating it in the first place. So just stick to your plan and put in 100% commitment to it.

Do what you plan to do according to the priority. If you need to choose to have a tea break with your colleague or to get the email replied, do the important thing first only then go and have the tea break with whoever you like.

4. Do not procrastinate

This is one of the main reasons most people fail to realize their dreams. Procrastination is a big killer of success. In fact, every one of us procrastinates at times. And every one of us knows how to handle it. When your desire for something is strong, you will do it without procrastinating it.

If you procrastinate on a certain task, it simply means that doing that task is not pleasurable and you feel pain when doing it. There are a lot of tips on how to handle procrastination here in this blog. Just search through and you will learn them.

5. Plan your leisure time

Come on, every one wants to have leisure time. You will break down if you just plan your day for work and no leisure. When you stretch yourself too much, you will eventually fall apart and get nothing done. Leisure time is actually good for refreshment and to relieve tension.

It is said that the more you relax and enjoy the more effective you will be. For me, both must exist in order to be balance. You will feel guilty if you keep on playing and get nothing done. So make sure you plan some time for leisure as well.

6. Stay focused with your goals

Consistently ask yourself whether you are moving toward your goals. If you are doing something that is not helping you move toward the destination you want, it is a waste of time. Like what I have mentioned above, you need to have leisure time as well. However, if you put in too much time into playing, you are actually wasting your life.

So know what is important to you. If your goal is to become the top computer gamer, playing games the whole day actually helping you move toward that goal. This is why you need to know what are your goals and what are you trying to achieve.

7. Do it, delegate it or dump it

Remember, if you can do it, then do it now. If you cannot do it, just delegate it. And if you cannot do it and delegate it, just dump it. The principle here is to do something about it. If you think that washing the toilet is something important, but you do not have the time to do it, just delegate the task. If you do not want to do it or delegate it, you will end up having a dirty toilet until you do something about it. It will then come down to the priority of the task.

These are the 7 simple tips to be more effective in life. If you follow through and apply these tips into your life, I’m sure you will get more out of your life.

The 3 Most Underutilized Techniques To Handling Procrastination

February 18th, 2011

Handling ProcrastinationProcrastination, one of the most common reasons people fail to accomplish what they want in their lives. This is so common that there are tons of books have been written about this subject. And you know what, everyone procrastinates and put things off. Even the most hard-working people in the world will procrastinate sometimes, but not always.

What I am going to share with you today are the 3 most underutilized techniques how you can overcome procrastination in your life. I strongly believe that you know what you need to do in order to achieve what you want in your life, just that you put things off and are not doing anything about it. Am I right? You know you have to train the dogs before they go wild and go out of control. You know you have to manage your finances in order to have a better financial life.

You know what you need to do, but you are not doing it. And today, you are going to learn how you can handle this problem. So here are the 3 techniques that can help…

Making Public Commitment

The first technique is called public commitment. What you need to do is to tell everyone about what you will have to do. This is a very simple and effective technique in handling procrastination. For example, if you want to go to the gym tomorrow morning, just tell some of your friends, or even better, invite them to go along.

When you do this, you are actually making a public commitment. It is just like you promise your parents that you are going to bring them to China by the end of this year. When you said and promised them, you will have to do it. In other words, you want to put yourself on the line so that you will do whatever it takes to accomplish the task.

Think about it, if you tell everyone that you are going to quit your job and start your own business, will you be more committed? The answer is pretty obvious. Whenever you make a public commitment, you are actually making a promise with yourself. You are actually reinforcing the idea in your subconscious mind. You will think about it all the time and sometimes, those people will remind you about it.

Do not be afraid to share your dreams with other people. If you feel embarrass to share your dreams with others, it simply means that either you are not committed or your dreams are not something worthy to mention.

So what you can do right now is to tell at least 20 people about your dreams and your goals. Share with them and ask them to support you. Tell them to remind you about what you are going to do. I believe most people are willing to help and support if you are serious about it.

Take Immediate Action

The second technique is that you can use to overcome procrastination is to take immediate action right away. How many times you try to do something, but because you think too much and you end up doing nothing? The key to overcome this is by taking immediate action. You just need to get it started.

For example, if you want to write an article but you feel like putting it off, just do it. Just type and the momentum will come to you. Yes, getting started allows you to build up the momentum and thus, get you moving. In fact, this is one of the most powerful techniques available to cure procrastination. You have to adopt the habit of ‘don’t think, just do it’.

The more you think about whether you should do it, the more likely you are not going to do it. The most important thing here is the first step. As long as you take the first step, you will have no problem finishing the task. Before I write this article, I’m facing the same problem. Lingering what should I type or whether should I do other stuff. However, I decide to open up Microsoft Word and just type. Once you have made the first move, the momentum will come.

It is just like a train. It’s hard to move in the beginning, but once it moved, it will be hard to stop. You are the same. Once you get it started, nothing can stop you. Try this technique and you will see how powerful it is.

The Power Of Focus

The third technique is by using your thoughts. What do you think about most of the time when you try to procrastinate? Usually, you will think about how boring doing the task, or you are so tired that you just want to have a good rest. Anyway, there are thousands of reasons that you will think about when you are trying to escape from doing something.

The thing is, you are focusing and thinking about the wrong thoughts. If you focus and think about your future, you will definitely take the necessary action. Let me give you an example. You know that you need to save and invest for your future. However, when you receive your salary, what is the first thought that comes to your mind? Is it that you are thinking about what to buy or how to spend that money? Or do you think about how much to save and invest?

After you came back from work, what are the thoughts that are in your mind? What you think about will determine what you do. If you think that you just came back from work, you are so tired, you need to relax and enjoy, and eventually you will end up wasting time watching dramas, movies or just lie and roll on the bed.

On the other hand, if you focus about your future and you tell yourself that you need to take action to make your dreams come true, do you think you will end up taking action? You know the answer. Thus, focus on the right thoughts and you will be able to produce the right results. Remember, action produces results. If you are not getting the results you want, obviously, you are doing the wrong thing.

Learn to focus on the right thoughts to produce the outcomes that you desire. This is not something easy. However, if you are willing to learn and train your mind to it, you definitely can become extraordinary and successful in your life.

How To Double Your Productivity Right Now

June 9th, 2010

Do you want to know the secret how you can double your productivity?

I believe everyone wants to learn this secret. Think about it, if you can be productive, you can produce more of the results you want, and hence, getting you toward your goals nearer and faster.

In fact, some people don’t need to use techniques to increase their productivity. They’re doing great in their lives and they are very productive. They have the passion, enthusiasm and the motivation to do it all the time. These are the people who tap into their inner source of motivation. These are the people who have their work and play together.

For them, their work is their play. They like what they do and that is why they are motivated and passionate to do it. You can be the same.

Unfortunately, for most people, they’re not in this category. They’re the people who need either motivation or pressure to get things done.

It is just like a salesman who hates to make cold calls. He knows that making cold calls can help him to close more sales and earn more money, but he just hates to do it. Are you in this category?

Let me give you another example. For internet marketer, after they have set up their website, they need to promote and market their website. However, most people don’t have the motivation to do it. They hate to write articles, posting in the forums, building links and so on.

If this is the kind of problem you are facing, this article is perfect for you. You’re about to discover the solution for it. You will be productive!

Let’s dive into the meat right away…

How To Double Your Productivity

1. Create a reward system

What you have to do is to create a reward system after you have done your chore. For instance, you can reward yourself such as enjoy a hobby, attend a movie, get a massage, go shopping, go for a walk in the garden, pamper yourself with extra sleep, play games, dine out, daydream, go fishing, go for a day trip, etc.

There are many ways you can reward yourself. Of course, we’re not talking about going for holidays in Hawaii. What I’m referring is the instant and small rewards that you can give yourself after you have done what you supposed to do.

This way, your reward will motivate you to take the necessary action and to get things done. It will definitely help to double your productivity as you know once you did it, you’re going to enjoy your reward.

2. Plan your day the night before

Every night before you sleep, write down at least 5 actions that you are going to take on the next day. One of the reasons for doing this is to condition your subconscious about what you need to do on the following day. Other reasons are such as it will better prepare you for what you need to do.

A lot of successful people are using this technique in their daily life. And if successful people are using this technique, I believe you should use it as well.

Try out this technique for the next 21 days and see what will happen.

3. Just do it for 10 minutes

No matter what action that you are trying to put off, as long as you can start the momentum, it will keep you going. Just like a train. It is hard to move, but once it moves, it is hard to stop.

Therefore, when you’re feeling like putting things off, tell yourself that you are going to do for just 10 minutes. Yes, 10 minutes will be more than enough to start your engine and turns you on.

Make cold calls for just 10 minutes. Write articles for just 10 minutes. Go to the gym and exercise for just 10 minutes. Jog for just 10 minutes. And so on and so forth.

Once you started your 10 minutes, you will find the motivation to do more of it. Try this technique and you will see the amazing results you are going to get.

Well, these are just the 3 tips on how to double your productivity that I’m going to share with you. If you want more, stay with me in my blog. I will definitely post more in my blog.

Hope you enjoy what you read and I wish that this information is going to increase your productivity and get you moving!

How To Overcome Procrastination And Unleash Your Greatness

June 7th, 2010

Lately I learned something new from Mike Litman and I feel so motivated that I want to share with you here.

I learned the strategies how to overcome procrastination and how you can unleash your greatness.

Well, everyone wants to tap into their maximum potential and unleash their greatness in their lives. The bad news is, they just can’t help but keep procrastinating on what they supposed to do. And this seriously block them from achieving what they want.

If you’re reading this right now, be prepared, you’re about to discover some very powerful insights how you can handle procrastination and how you can unleash your greatness.

The Difference Between Greatness And Mediocrity

Do you want to know what is the difference between greatness and mediocrity? What separates success from ordinary?

Well, I will use the example that Mike Litman used in his audio program…

Let’s say that we have Jane and Susan who both want to go to the gym in 10am in the Sunday. They want to keep their bodies in good shape and want to stay healthy.

So when Sunday comes, at 10am, it is raining outside and it is cold. The alarm sounds and Jane is unwilling to wake up. She felt so warm to hide under her blanket. She end up procrastinate and sleep more.

What happened to Susan? The same thing, it is cold out there, and she wishes to hide in her blanket as well. However, 30 minutes later, Susan is in the gym and Jane is not.

Thus, what is the difference between the two?

The difference is this, one person focuses on the reward and the other focuses on the process.

Clearly, Susan sees herself in good body shape and stay healthy, that is why she is able to handle her little thoughts and wake up to go to the gym.

On the other hand, Jane focuses on the process, which is boring, that she needs to wake up early, it is cold out there and she prefers to sleep more.

What did Susan did?

Susan did what most people hate. And do you know what does this mean? It means that in order to be successful, you need to do what most people hate to do.

Think about it, success is not something easy. You need to make more cold calls, you need to meet more clients, you need to learn how to handle procrastination, you need to take more risk, you need to be more hard working and so on and so forth.

So what does this tell you?

It tells you that if you want to be successful, you must do what most people hate to do. You need to form a habit of doing it until you find it interesting and you want to do even more of it.

Can you see the difference between success and mediocrity right now?

If you want to achieve your goals and be successful, you must overcome procrastination by doing what most people hate to do.

And in order to end procrastination, you must focus on the reward instead of the process. This is how you can unleash your greatness. And this is how you can be successful in your life.

So what you can do right now is to ask yourself this question…

“What is the one thing that I hate to do, but if I did it, it will improve the quality of my life?”

Identify this one thing and do it right now. Focus on the rewards or the outcomes that you are going to get from doing it. Don’t focus on the process as this will not motivate you to take action.

This is how you can overcome procrastination and unleash your greatness. This is how you can tap into your maximum potential to achieve what you have set for. This is how successful people did it and how you can be the same.
