How To Cure Inaction And Build Momentum In The Same Time

August 9th, 2011

Do you know that putting your thoughts into action is one of the most difficult challenges that you are going to face in life? In fact, inaction is actually the number one killer of all successes.

inactivity procrastinateThere are a lot of great ideas flowing through your mind each day, but because of inaction, those great ideas become dead. Extraordinary people are great because they make the impossible possible by making their thoughts and their dreams a reality.

I believe that you will some time have the difficulty to take action. You will feel so hard to do it and you just do not have the drive and motivation to do it. And I have a very effective and powerful solution for inactivity. What you are going to learn below can change your life if you apply this technique and transform yourself into a productive person who always makes things happen.

I understand that some time the spirit and the motivation are just not there. This is why you put things off and you procrastinate. Some time it is difficult to come up the drive to wake up early and go for jogging. Some time it is difficult to have the spirit to practice yoga. Some time it is difficult to have the motivation to read and study.

However, there are also time when you have total motivation to do something. I believe that some time you will have the drive to read and study for hours straight because the spirit is just there. And some time you will have the motivation to take action simply because you are driven.

There is one thing that you need to notice here. Do you ever notice that whenever you feel motivation or driven, you are already in the moving?

Many times, when you feel totally motivated, it is the time when you are actually doing the thing. And this is what drives you forward to accomplish more in your life. Therefore, all you need to do is to start your engine and you will have the drive and build up the momentum to go further.

It is exactly like a car. You need to start the engine and warm it up so it can perform better. The same principle applies for the law of momentum. It is hard to push a car to move in the beginning. However, once it started to move, the momentum will build up and you will need less energy to push it.

So how can you apply this principle to help you in your journey to success? How can you use this powerful law to build your momentum so that you will have all the energy to take action and make your dreams come true?

The answer is by starting your engine mechanically.

Yes, all you need to do is to start the engine mechanically without putting in any thought. If you feel difficult to make the calls, just pick up the phone, dial the number and talk, without thinking anything. After a few calls, you will build up the momentum and move the spirit.

The same thing happens if you feel that it is difficult to read and study. Most people will feel sleepy when they opened up the book. They will then find a lot of excuses such as they have eaten too full, they need to call their partners, they need to clean up the closet and many other lousy excuses to procrastinate.

If you are a salesman and you are afraid to knock on a stranger’s door, just do it mechanically. Do not think about anything, empty your mind, just walk straight to the door, knock it, smile, greet the owner and start your presentation. After doing this for a few times, you will build up the momentum and you will have the drive to do it none stop.

Remember, just do it mechanically without putting in much thought. You just want to get it started. You do not have to wait for the spirit to come to you; you can create and move the spirit by using this technique.

Sometimes I find it difficult to come up with ideas for this blog as well. However, I will just open my Microsoft Word and start to type something to get it started. And when I do that, the ideas will start to flow and I will come up with things to write.

Try out this technique and see how powerful and effective it is. Whenever you do not have the motivation to do something, just dig it deeper and do it without thinking or putting any thought into it. In almost no time at all, you will feel the spirit and the momentum will come to you.

How To Overcome Procrastination And Unleash Your Greatness

June 7th, 2010

Lately I learned something new from Mike Litman and I feel so motivated that I want to share with you here.

I learned the strategies how to overcome procrastination and how you can unleash your greatness.

Well, everyone wants to tap into their maximum potential and unleash their greatness in their lives. The bad news is, they just can’t help but keep procrastinating on what they supposed to do. And this seriously block them from achieving what they want.

If you’re reading this right now, be prepared, you’re about to discover some very powerful insights how you can handle procrastination and how you can unleash your greatness.

The Difference Between Greatness And Mediocrity

Do you want to know what is the difference between greatness and mediocrity? What separates success from ordinary?

Well, I will use the example that Mike Litman used in his audio program…

Let’s say that we have Jane and Susan who both want to go to the gym in 10am in the Sunday. They want to keep their bodies in good shape and want to stay healthy.

So when Sunday comes, at 10am, it is raining outside and it is cold. The alarm sounds and Jane is unwilling to wake up. She felt so warm to hide under her blanket. She end up procrastinate and sleep more.

What happened to Susan? The same thing, it is cold out there, and she wishes to hide in her blanket as well. However, 30 minutes later, Susan is in the gym and Jane is not.

Thus, what is the difference between the two?

The difference is this, one person focuses on the reward and the other focuses on the process.

Clearly, Susan sees herself in good body shape and stay healthy, that is why she is able to handle her little thoughts and wake up to go to the gym.

On the other hand, Jane focuses on the process, which is boring, that she needs to wake up early, it is cold out there and she prefers to sleep more.

What did Susan did?

Susan did what most people hate. And do you know what does this mean? It means that in order to be successful, you need to do what most people hate to do.

Think about it, success is not something easy. You need to make more cold calls, you need to meet more clients, you need to learn how to handle procrastination, you need to take more risk, you need to be more hard working and so on and so forth.

So what does this tell you?

It tells you that if you want to be successful, you must do what most people hate to do. You need to form a habit of doing it until you find it interesting and you want to do even more of it.

Can you see the difference between success and mediocrity right now?

If you want to achieve your goals and be successful, you must overcome procrastination by doing what most people hate to do.

And in order to end procrastination, you must focus on the reward instead of the process. This is how you can unleash your greatness. And this is how you can be successful in your life.

So what you can do right now is to ask yourself this question…

“What is the one thing that I hate to do, but if I did it, it will improve the quality of my life?”

Identify this one thing and do it right now. Focus on the rewards or the outcomes that you are going to get from doing it. Don’t focus on the process as this will not motivate you to take action.

This is how you can overcome procrastination and unleash your greatness. This is how you can tap into your maximum potential to achieve what you have set for. This is how successful people did it and how you can be the same.

3 Positive Self-Talk That Will Overcome Procrastination

January 20th, 2010

Do you want to learn how to overcome procrastination? Are you putting things off?

I believe that everyone faces the challenges of procrastination in their daily life. No matter who you are, a doctor, an engineering, a super successful businessman, you’ll face with issues with your personal productivity.

And I believe that to deal with procrastination, you will have to find and cure the source.

What I mean is, you need to know what is causing you to procrastinate and how you procrastinate before you can prevent it.

Most personal productivity books will just tell you that to be more productive, you need to create a to-do list, organize your tasks, do the most important task first and so on.

However, this will not help you overcome procrastination. These techniques can help you to be more productive and get more things done, but they never deal with the source of procrastination within you.

The source of procrastination is deep within you, in your mind, and you work it out as a habit.

I found self-talk a powerful strategy to overcome procrastination. Whenever you want to get a task done, you will ask yourself questions before you proceed to do it.

So if you can deal and act before you actually procrastinate, you will be able to put yourself into action and do the task.

Some people will talk to themselves like, “should I really do this?” “God, I hate this part.” “I’m going to spend all my time here, what a boring thing to do.”

What if you talk to yourself positively before doing the task? What if you tell yourself, “How am I going to enjoy with this today?” Or “Where can I start today?”

Do you think this is going to help you overcome procrastination? You bet! The answer is a BIG yes!

So here are the 3 positive self-talk you can use to help you avoid procrastination in your life…

1. Tell yourself you’ll enjoying doing it.

When you have to get your task done, ask yourself, “how am I going to enjoy doing this now?” This is going to interrupt your pattern because this is not the way you use to act.

And if your pattern gets interrupted, you will never focus on how boring or mundane the task is. What you’ll do then is that your brain will start to search for answer of how you can enjoy doing it.

Try it, it really works. Even before I’m typing this post here, I’m thinking about how am I going to enjoy and share this great tip with you.

2. Tell yourself that you can accomplish a small step.

Many people focus on the big task instead of the small task that they should get it done. When you focus on the big task, you’ll feel your mind with fear. You’ll fear of the massive amount of time you’re going to pour in. You’ll fear if you cannot get it done by the deadline. You’ll feel the fear and feel overwhelm.

Confucius has a very interesting quote on this, “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. Yes, no matter how big the project is, you will have to start by taking one small step at a time.

You cannot build a house at once. You cannot write a book in a day. However, you can start by designing the house, pour the concrete, laying the bricks, and so on and so forth. It is the same for everything in life.

You can take just one small step to accomplish a big project right now. Maybe you can draft a plan for your project, maybe it is a phone call, or maybe it is saying “hello” to somebody.

So ask yourself, “what one small step can I take today?” This will help you to avoid putting things off.

3. Tell yourself, “I wish to” instead of saying “I should” or “I have” to.

In the world of psychology, the word “I have to” or “I should” creates the emotion of unwillingness to do it.

When you say that you have to do it, you are telling yourself that you need to get it done, but you feel like don’t want to do it.

So change the word to “wish”. Say to yourself “I wish to study tonight” instead of saying “I have to study tonight”.

You can try this little change right now and feel the change in emotion and feeling in you. Close your eyes and imagine all the task that you need to do in order to achieve your goals.

Think by using the word “have”. For instance, you can think, “I have to do this, I have to do that, I have to…”

Now, change the word to “wish”. What do you feel?

Try to use this word and make it a habit to use it.

And these are the 3 positive self-talk strategies that will help you to overcome procrastination.

The Secret How To Create Results And Avoid Procrastination Now!

January 14th, 2010

Do you want to learn the secret of how you can create results and avoid procrastination?

The secret to achieving this is not something difficult. In fact, most people can do it, but not all of them are willing to do it.

And this is what separates the ordinary people from extraordinary people who create outstanding results they desire in their life.

Today, this post is going to be short. However, it is a powerful post if you apply what you’re going to learn here.

One of the most powerful key in this secret is that without this secret, you will never create ANY results. You will never achieve your goals or make your dreams come true no matter how clever or how much skills you have.

Can you see it now, it is not the skills that you have or the cleverness that you have that will determine how successful you are.

Becoming successful has nothing to do with what you know or does it has anything to do with your knowledge.

This can be proven by the success stories of all the school dropouts who are still able to create amazing results in their life.

Actually, what you know only amounts a little to being successful and achieving your goals.

You can be a health expert, or you can be a doctor, but you can still be fat and unhealthy if you’re not practicing what you know in your life.

You can be a business student who graduated with first-class degree, but if you are not using the knowledge you have gained from your schools, you’ll be the same like every other people.

You can be an expert in investment, but if you’re not going to apply your strategies or your knowledge, you’ll never produce amazing results that an expert deserves.

Obviously, what you know does not count in achieving what you want. Knowing or having specific knowledge about how to get things done is an added advantage, but it will never determine your success.

Therefore, the real secret to create results and avoid procrastination is this… Take immediate action and do it consistently!

If you’re not taking any action, there’s only one result you will get, which is ‘nothing’.

The moment you take action, you’re creating the future that you want and you will be able to avoid the procrastination that you always make.

It is true that success requires planning and thinking, but too much of it will cause you to be paralyzed. This is what most people are suffering in, analysis paralysis.

It simply means that you think too much and plan too much that you don’t put in time into taking action.

You don’t need the perfect plan to get started or to be successful. You don’t have to wait until the best time or when there are 5 rainbows in row in the sky only to take action.

You don’t have to wait for you to have $100,000 in the bank to start your donation, you can start now.

You don’t have to wait for the moment when you are rich only to make those investments or savings, after all, this is the reason you are not rich… yet!

So harness the power of taking action today… right now!
