3 Foundation For Successful Goal Setting

November 3rd, 2008

Do you have any goals that you want to achieve but in the end you fail to achieve them?

This is a very common problem that most people face. I mean, they know what they want and they even written down their goals, but still they fail to achieve their goals.

Why is this so? One of the reasons is because that most people do not build the foundation for successful goal setting. Do you know that you need to strong foundation so that you will be able to achieve your goals much more easily?

Goal setting is just like building a house, if the foundation that you built is not strong enough, it will collapse easily. Therefore, you need to find out how you can build a strong foundation before you start your engine to make your goals come true.

Below are the 3 keys in building a strong foundation for successful goal setting:

1. You Need To Believe That You Have All The Potential

One of the most common mistakes that many will make in goal setting is that they sell themselves short. They thought that it is impossible for them to make $100,000 a year, so they just set smaller goals. Instead of setting goal to earn $100,000, they set their goals to increase their income of $1,000 a month.

You must believe that you have unlimited potential in achieving anything you want in your life. You need to adopt the ‘blue sky’ thinking. Where you think without any limitation, the sky is the limit.

Don’t sell yourself short, you can achieve anything you want if you want to. It all starts from your mind, your thinking.

2. Be Responsible

If you fail to achieve your goals, you need to know that it is because of you. Therefore, you need to take the responsible for it. Let me ask you this, if you fail to achieve your goals, do you think that it is your fault? Or do you think that it is not your fault?

For most people, the moment they fail to achieve their goals, they put the responsibility on other factors. For example, they blame the economy for being bad, they blame their parents for not supporting them, they blame their wife or their husband, they blame anything except themselves.

Know this, if you put the responsibility on other people, do you think that you will improve? Do you think that you will change? Not at all. This is because when you blame other people, you are not in control and you will never change.

It is just like what I mentioned in my post, Are You A Victor, Or A Victim.

3. Designing Your Goals

Let’s face it, do you know how to set your goals? Most people don’t. They know that they need to set goals in order to achieve what they want, but they don’t know how they can do so.
