Transform Your Blog Content Into Traffic Sucking Articles

May 29th, 2008

I believe that you have already known what is article marketing and how it works. If you don’t simply read through my previous article, The Benefits of Article Marketing. As you know, articles are very useful and they are very popular because the search engine spiders, ezine publishers, newsletter publishers, internet marketers and website owners need articles as their primary sources of content.

A really good article that informs the reader about a certain topic qualifies as fresh, quality content. Therefore if you can create quality articles you can easily get backlinks and traffic to your website. As a blog owner, creating quality articles for submission to the major article directories is very easy because your blog is already be filled with quality content!

So you see, as a blogger, you already have the content, what you need to do is just to re-write them, twist the idea and you will have a brand new, unique article. So all you really need to do is take the content from your blog and package it into 350-500 word articles complete with a catchy headline. This should realistically only take you a few minutes.

When you are writing articles, no matter for submitting to article directories, or you publish them in your own blog, there is one things you need to be aware of, the headline or article title that you are going to use. Make sure that the title of your articles are attention-grabber. If your title is boring, no people is going to click and read your article. Do you actually know what this means? It means that nobody reads your article and you have wasted your 30 minutes to write that wordy article. How are you going to feel then? So, you must always write a title that can attracts eyeballs.

A good headline provokes the readers attention and teases their curiosity. You can write a catchy headline by:

1. Using words like ‘secret,’ ‘discover,’ ‘important,’ ‘never before seen,’ ‘amazing,’ ‘incredible,’ ‘unbelievable,’ shocking truth,’ ‘how to,’ etc.

2. Asking a question like…
“Is it possible to….,’
‘Have you seen…,’
‘Why does…,’
‘When is…,’
‘Who is…,’
‘What you don’t know about…,’
‘Can you really…,’ etc.

Avoid writing headlines like these:
“Fiberglass Speaker Boxes”
“Internet Usage”
“Essentials of Broadband Routers”
“Legalities of Pollution”
“Innovative Floor Tile Ideas”
Instead, write headlines like these:
“Are Fiber Glass Speaker Boxes Really Worth The Money?”
“The Shocking Truth Behind Internet Usage!”
“What You Don’t Know About Broadband Routers”
“What Are The Legalities Of Pollution?”
“Have You Seen These Innovative Floor Tile Ideas?”

If you need more information about article titles, read this post of mine, Article Title Determines Your Article Views.

Here is a tip for you if you are writing articles for submission. Once you have succeeded in getting readers for your articles you then need to get the all important click through to your blog URL. This is very easy to do. Instead of submitting the entire article to the directories, split the article in two and submit only a portion of the article. In the resource box you would then write something like, “Part 2 Of This Article Can Be Found At www.yourblog.com” or “To View The Rest Of This Article, Please Visit My blog At www.yourblog.com.” Using a tagline like this instead of the usual “All Of This And More Can Be Found At…” kind of tag line practically forces the readers of your articles to click through to your blog.

So now you can see, it is easy to come up with content, all you need is just the effort and time to write that article. In fact, you already have all the content you need, you have to use your content wisely. This is the information age, people are willing to buy for information. The best example of information that is getting popular is this ‘internet marketing’ or ‘make money online’ market. People are willing to pay hundreds and some even thousands just to find out how they can make easy money online.

Therefore, try to transform your blog’s content into articles. This way, you can have both your blog posted with fresh and quality posts, and you will have extra articles for submission purposes. Want to learn how you can write articles in less than 30 minutes? Read this post of mine, How to Write an Article Fast in Less Than 30 Minutes.

How To Build A Blog That Wins Your Reader’s Heart

May 24th, 2008

Well, I have been blogging for quite some time now. I still remember that it was last year, May 2007, that I created this blog. Thinking back, it was already one year. So what have I learned from blogging? There are a lot of things that I have learned. Frankly speaking, I have a learn a lot about internet marketing and how to make money online. Which is most people’s favorite topic.

As for blogging itself, sometimes I will think that why is it that some blogs can get so many readers, tons of people are subscribing to their blogs and read every article the blogger posted. One of the great blog out there which I will recommend you to read is Yaro Starak’s Entrepreneur’s Journey. He has more than 20k of feed subscribers. Can you imagine that? Every time he posted something, more than 20k of people are going to read it.

Gosh, what makes his blog so great that everyone is rushing to read it? So, today, I’m going to tell you one BIG SECRET that is going to make your blog become a magnet. Your blog is going to attract tons of readers, and of course, win their heart. For me, this secret is the basic principle of blogging. It is this ‘secret’ that makes a blog, a blog. Without this principle, your blog will not be a blog, it will rather become an article bank or article directory.

I bet you already can guess what this big secret is. It is this…

Build Your Blog With Personality

If you really read through Yaro’s blog, you will find that every of his post is written in such a way that it seems like he is talking to you when you read it. Yes, this is the kind of personality that is going to win your reader’s heart. If you don’t believe me, just head to any of the article directories, and read one of the articles there. You will find this big difference, the personality in the article. I have an interesting article here, Blog As If You Are Talking To Your Friends.

Build Your Blog With Personality

Most of the time we will write something that seems like an article, which is more formal. But bear in mind that this is a blog. An online diary. You have to write it as if you are talking to your good friends. I found out that many people did not like to use these words like ‘you’ and ‘I’. Because in their mind, they thought that they are posting for hundreds of readers, they want to make it special and have more ‘power’ in their articles. Therefore, they use the word ‘we’ instead of ‘I’.

This makes your blog formal, and people will frame their mind in such a way that they are reading an article, and will not leave their comments. You make them forget that they are the most important asset of your blog! Readers, is the most important asset of your blog, if you don’t have any readers, no people will read your blog. This is a common sense. So, stop acting like a large faceless corporation, treat your readers as your friends.

Include Your Pictures If Possible

To make your blog even more personality, you can insert your own picture. Don’t be shy, this is a blog, just take a nice smiling face picture and upload it to your blog. If you notice, my top 3 recommendation blogs, Entrepreneur’s Journey, ProBlogger, and JohnChow, all three of them show their pictures in their blog. Why? Simply because they understand that if you want to attract readers and win their heart, you will have to be true to them, get close with them. How can you do this? Insert your own picture in your blog.

This way, you will seem like more friendly, and more approachable. You have to stand behind your blog, it is your blog that is going to make you money. So what if you can earn a few thousand dollars just by being more friendly with your readers? There is nothing wrong to it. Hence, always tell your readers who you are, and be honest with them.

This is my big secret of how you can build your blog that wins your readers’ heart. You should know that you have to act with integrity if you want to be successful with your blog. If you study the life experiences of all successful people out there, you will find that everyone of them often put honesty and integrity in the first place in conducting their business. They know that without honesty, your business won’t go long.

What Is Your Blog’s Mission?

May 18th, 2008

If you notice, every successful bloggers out there have their own mission for their blogs. For example, they know exactly what kind of results their blog is going to achieve in a certain period. That is why all the big companies out there have their own ‘mission and vision’. Only if you have a mission, you will stay focused and achieve it.

If you don’t have a mission, there is nothing for you to hit for. Therefore, to build a successful blog, you must set mission for your blog. What is it that your blog is going to achieve in 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, or maybe 5 years? You have to know all these if you are serious about blogging.

Vision and Mission

One of the killer mistakes that make so many bloggers out there fail is that they don’t have a clear plan. They don’t know what they need to do with their blogs. All they know is that they have to keep on posting. Let me tell you this…

If You Fail To Plan, You Plan To Fail

So first thing first. Plan for what goals you want your blog to achieve. Is it that you want your blog to have 100 daily readers in 30 days? Or maybe 1,000 daily readers? This is what I called, your blog’s mission. You have to know whatis your blog’s mission, only then you can stay focused and you KNOW WHAT YOU SHOULD DO with your blog.

Many people did not know what they want to achieve from their blogs, that is why they don’t know what they should do for their blog. Soon enough, they will give up because they thought that blogging is their hobby and they can make money from it. In the end, they give up because they don’t have the drive and motivation to keep on going on anymore.

Why? Simply because blogging is not their hobby! They have the wrong thought. Your blog’s mission must be corresponded with what you love to do. Many people thought that blogging is what they love to do, wrong. What makes them to have this wrong thinking is because they have the wrong perception about blogging. They thought that blogging is suitable for them and they can make money while telling people about what they love.

In fact, what they love is this, instant money. They see other bloggers are doing great and earning from their blogs, so they wanted to do the same. What they did not know is that those successful bloggers devote their life to blogging, they love blogging. Successful bloggers will keep on continue to blog even if they did not profit from their blog. This is the main difference between a successful blogger and an ordinary one. So will you still keep on blogging if you know that for the next 6 months you are not going to earn any money from it?

Do You Need To Blog Everyday To Be Successful?

Once you have your mission, and you are serious about it, do you need to spend time finding content to blog? Not necessary. If you really love to blog, and you have all the time, just go for it. You can blog every single day. However, what I want to let you know is this, you don’t need to post every single day in order to make you a successful blogger. If you have no idea about posting frequency, read this, How Often Should You Post In Your Blog?

The best example I can give is Yaro Starak. He did not post everyday. Because for him, blogging is part time. He did loves to blog, but not to the extent that blogging becomes his job. That is why he is only blogging for part time. Still, he managed to build a successful blog.

Of course if you don’t write articles you won’t get traffic but as long as you post something interesting, creative, practical or valuable every once and a while your blog readership will increase. People that like your work will look forward to it regardless of how frequently you post. A little anticipation is a good thing.

When you start to post regularly, not hourly or daily but at least weekly people adjust their expectations accordingly. Remember you don’t owe anyone anything when you blog. Blogging is only about putting in as much effort as is required to meet your goals.

If you post new articles six times a day people will start to expect it from you. You will start to expect it from yourself and blogging will feel like a job because of pressures to publish a certain amount of new content each day. It is fine to post everyday if you feel like it. This is your blog, not your job. So be flexible with your job. If you are running out of topics to blog, go through these 5 tips.

Always Adjust Your Blog’ Mission

I know that even though you have your own blog’s mission, but for most people, they will not achieve their mission in the first attempt. So my suggestion is, always adjust your blogging mission to always reach your goals. If you spend 1 hours writing quality content every day but still you can’t achieve your mission, then change the strategy.

Maybe you can post for one day, and market your blog the next day. Not everyone can achieve what they want the first time. It is through many trial and error, actually, it is the feedback that help you to achieve your goals. Don’t you think so? if Thomas Edison did not failed more than 10,000 times, do you think that he will find the right material for his invention?

The same goes to Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, they train everyday just to discover more ‘feedback’, and it is the feedback that makes them more perfect in their game. It is the same for blogging. You have to find out what works and what doesn’t. Then change your strategy and go all out again. There is always smarter way to build a successful blog. Want to profit from your blog? Just follow these 6 steps to build a profitable blog.

My FeedBurner Count Doubled!

May 12th, 2008

Yesterday I logged in to my FeedBurner account, and I found out that my FeedBurner count was doubled! I was shocked the first time I looked at the number. I said, “Wow, since when so many people subscribed to my blog’s feed?” Frankly, I’m so happy when I saw that number.

Here is the screen shot…

FeedBurner Count

If you notice from the picture above, you will see that my FeedBurner count doubled in the Thursday. Why is that so? Actually, I’m not sure as well. But what I can say is this, it is maybe due to some factors. I’m not sure that they are the main factors, but they definitely has something to do with this increased. They are…

Quality Content

This is one of the reasons I guess. Maybe this is definitely the reason. Well, actually over the last few months, I’m just concentrating in building quality content for my blog. If you are looking for motivational tips, way to succeed, how to make money, then you have come to the right place.

I keep on focus my energy in building quality post. That is why if you are a subscribers of my blog, I believe that you will receive an email from this blog every single day. I tried to come up with a content post every day. I’m not going to monetize my blog or putting up ads for now. What I want to do now is to build my blog, not profits from my blog.

Just like what Yaro Starak has to say, he spent 6 months focus in writing quality content which people are looking for. After that 6 months of hard work, his effort pays off. He got all the readers he wanted, he has all the credibility, he builds a great blog filled with full of quality content. Now he is reaping money from his blog.

So the first thing to do with your blog is, building it, by providing something that your market is looking for. If you need more information on how to build a successful blog, be sure to read this post of mine, 5 Super Tips to Build a Successful Blog.

Market Your Blog

The other reason I can think of is this, market my blog. Well, over the last few weeks, I’m so lazy and I did not do any marketing for my blog, even for social networking sites, I did not do anything. After that, I decide to get back into marketing my blog, and the strategy that I used this via StumbleUpon.

If you need to know how you can drive massive amount of traffic using StumbleUpon, just read my post, How StumbleUpon Can Brings You Tons of Traffic. Yes, marketing your blog is what you need to do. You don’t want to waste your effort of building up great content, but you have nobody there to read it right?

If you want people to know about your blog, you will first need to tell them that you have a blog, am I right? I mean, this is a common sense. You have to somehow do all the marketing works when you just started out. After you have established a certain level of credibility, trust and readership, people will somehow do the marketing for you.

However, you and I both start from the ground. So you will have to do all these works from the very beginning. Therefore, start doing the marketing work for your blog. It is your blog, nobody will do this for you.

Don’t Show Your FeedBurner Count If It Is Less Than 100

This is what I have learned from JohnChow. He said that if your FeedBurner count is less than 100, then don’t show it. People somehow follow the majority. Meaning to say, when people see that you have a huge number of subscribers, they will think that your blog is a great blog, and that is why so many people are subscribing to your blog.

What they will do is, they will be the ‘sheep’ and subscribe to your blog post. Now, can you imagine what is going to happen if your FeedBurner count is low? It makes people don’t want to subscribe. In the beginning, it may seem that everything is difficult, but once you have broke the first level, the path of advancing to the next level will be easier.

Why Nobody Reads Your Blog

May 9th, 2008

Have you ever wondered why some of the blogs out there are so popular and they have all the traffic they want? What about your blog? Do people come to your blog and read what you write?

Some of the blogs out there are having 10,000 unique visitors each day, some only have 10 visitors. Where your blog comes in? Think about it, you try to write something interesting, you spent a few days writing great articles which you thought that your visitors may like to read.

However, you end up getting nobody to read your blog. Why is this so? Well, before you can start driving tons of traffic to your blog, before you learn how to do it, you must understand this one thing about traffic…

Accept The Fact That You Have To Work For Traffic

Yes, this is the first thing you will need to accept. Know this, you have to spend time, take action to bring traffic to your blog. You have to tell people to visit your blog. Remember, this is your blog, nobody will help you in doing this. If they can help you increase your traffic, why don’t they do it for their blogs? Am I right? And don’t make The Biggest Traffic Mistake in your blog.

So, first thing first, learn the truth that you have to work to get traffic. Many bloggers out there did not notice that marketing their blog is one of the most important factors that will determine the success of their blog. Quality content is one thing, but traffic is different, you have to work hard for it.

You are the owner of your blog, you are the marketer of your blog, you have to do the boss’s job, you have to be the marketer’s job, and you will also work as a writer for your blog, you basically do everything for you blog. Unless you are very rich and you can hire people to do all these for you, you will have to do all these yourself, because this is your OWN BUSINESS.

We Start From The Ground

You got it, we both have to start from the ground. We don’t have something special or lucky that makes our life easier. Let me show you what I mean here. This is a small portion that I grab from Yaro Starak‘s newsletter:

Guy Kawasaki started blogging and a few weeks after launching he had over 4000 daily readers. Guy is a famous author and business speaker so he had the benefit of lots of other bloggers and media spreading the word for him. Chances are you don’t have this advantage. I didn’t, I had to earn my traffic the hard way.

You are not any famous celebrity, if you are Britney Spears, I think you will get 100,000 daily readers once you published your blog. But the fact here is that you are not. You and I both start from the ground. We have to work hard to get traffic and to make our blog a success.

Most of the bloggers failed because they don’t know how to market their blog. Not because that they don’t know how to produce quality content, but they don’t know how to get their blogs expose to their market.

Make Your Blog Worth Reading

Ask yourself this question, is your blog worth reading? You have to always think from the perspective of your readers. The NUMBER ONE reason people read your blog is because of your content. Just think of your blog as a magazine. Would you buy a magazine that don’t have any quality content?

So the first thing you have to do to attract visitors is to fill your blog with quality content. Once you have the content, you can then start marketing your blog. If you don’t know where to start, I recommend you to read The Ingredients of Success For Bloggers, and you can also read my series posts on Ultimate Blogging Tips.
