Long ago there’s a professor. He is a very prestigious man with 3 PhDs and he is the dean for his school. One day, he would like to cross the river to his university. He did not know how he can cross it and until suddenly he saw a boatman row his boat over. He then asks the boatman, “Hello boatman, can you row me across the river to my university?” And the boatman agrees.
So as the boatman rows his boat across the river, the professor point to the mountain and asks the boatman, “Boatman, do you know where there is and have you ever learned geography?”
The boatman shakes his head and answers, “No, not at all.” And the professor tells the boatman, “Boatman, 25% of your life is gone.” The boatman seems sad and he keeps on rowing the boat.
After awhile, the professor pick up a left from the river and ask the boatman, “Boatman, have you ever learned botany?” And the boatman answers, “What is that? I have never heard of it before.” Then the professor tell the boatman, “Poor boatman, 50% of your life is gone.”
The boatman feels sad and he keeps on rowing the boat. A moment later, the professor asks the boatman again, “Boatman, boatman, do you know what is mineralogy?” Again, the boatman answer the professor, “No…”
The professor then tells the boatman, “Boatman, 75% of your life is gone.” The boatman is very sad and he rows the boat without noticing that there is a huge rock in front. As a result, the boat hit the rock and it starts to sink. The boatman and the professor both are panic and the boatman asks the professor, “Professor! Professor! Do you know how to swim?”
Guess what the professor answers? The professor says, “No! I don’t know how to swim!” And the boatman replies the professor, “Professor! 100% of your life is gone!” The boatman jump into the river and swim away to the shore…
What Is The Moral Of The Story?
What I’m going to share with you in this story is that knowledge and skills such as goal setting, visualization, affirmation, success mindset, millionaire habits and more are very important in your life.
Often, it is these skills that will help you in achieving what you really want in your life. Unfortunately, most people do not really bother about these skills and they ignore them. As a result, most people live a mediocre life and they struggle all the time.
If you are serious in achieving what you really want in your life and if you are truly committed in becoming successful, you must learn and improve in this area of your life. Learn and adopt all these success strategies or techniques or skills into your life.
I always received emails from my readers asking me where did I learn all my success knowledge. What I’m going to say is, if you are serious about getting the success you want, you will eventually come up with a way how to acquire all this knowledge.
I learned from reading books. I read a lot of books especially in self-improvement topic. I have developed reading as my hobby and until this day, I will feel odd if I did not read any book in a day.
You don’t have to buy a lot of books and read like crazy. You can buy a book each month if you can afford. However, make sure you finish every book that you bought. More than 70% of people who bought a book did not finish it. It is such a waste to spend your money on something that you never use.
The Book That I Strongly Recommend
Of all the books that I’ve read, one that truly grabs my attention is this, Adam Khoo’s Master Your Mind, Design Your Destiny. It is a book that is written with you on the mind. What I like about this book is that Adam explains his success strategies from the head until the toe and every of the techniques are in step-by-step manner. This means that you can follow through and apply the strategies much more easily.
Adam uses Neuro Linguistic Programming as the core principle in his success. It is the technique that you can use to master your mind and achieve anything you want in your life. You should know that your #1 asset is your mind. If you can control your mind, you can basically achieve anything you want in your life, no doubt for this…
Read this book once to grab the big idea, read it twice to sink the idea into your mind and if you read it for the third time, achieving what you want will never be a problem.

Nice article. To be successful in life, depends on you, if you are motivated, determined, and have the mindset to be successful in life, you will be. Only you can bring the results of a goal. There are many books, good ones, I have read many-really liked Rich Dad-Poor Dad. But if you are not serious and motivated to get the success, then it won’t happen. Help is available in many resources-try working on your goals
True enough Penny!
You’re absolutely right.
Many people are just blowing hot air. They talk about
success and they dream about it but they never
really take the real action to make it come true.
If you want to be successful and really achieve the things
you want in your life, you must be determined and take
real solid action to make it come true.
Very good article Shawn! I enjoy most of the articles that I read from you. You and Penny are correct in the fact that there are many great books on the subject of success. But, like the story of the professor and the boatman, you can read all the books in the world but without practicing what you read and putting it to good use nothing will happen. A good formula to follow is: WHY TIMES HOW PLUS ACTION = SUCCESS! Keep up the great work Shawn and much success to you!
Hello Joe, thanks for visiting. You’re right.
Most people will never use what they have learned
in their life. You can achieve basically anything you want
as long as you tap into the full potential of yourself.
I googled “learn how to be successful” and this site was on the very top. Wow thank you for this insight on life.
Nice article, actually to be successful depends on your determination, hard work and your attitude on what you are doing to achieve the success
