Why Your Goals Need To Be Specific And Clear

I believe you understand that the goals you set must be clear and specific. Do you know that one of the most common reasons people fail to get what they want in their lives is that they do not really know what they want?

When you ask someone what they want in their lives, most of them will tell you that they want to be happier, to have a better job, to have more money, to have less worries and so on. All these are general wishes that everybody wants. These are NOT goals; these are very general wishes that everyone wants in their lives.

How can you achieve ‘to have more money’ when you do not know how much that you want? This is why having a clear and specific goal is very important. It gives you a measure of where you are, how to get there and when will you achieve it.

For me, the most important reason that you need to make your goal clear is because your goal will determine the strategies that you are going to use to achieve them.

Allow me to explain what I mean here. The strategies that you are going to use to achieve the goal of making $10,000 per month and making $100,000 per month are totally different. Let me give you a very clear example…

Let’s say that you are running a shop selling fruits by the roadside and you are making $10,000 per month. Do you think that it is possible to raise your income by earning $15,000 per month? The answer is an absolute yes.

What you can do is to work harder, raise the prices of your fruits, make the operation hour longer, create loyalty programs and allow others to sell for you, create an online selling system and so on. Highly likely, you will increase your revenue and achieve your target.

Now, do you think that it is possible to earn $100,000 from your fruit business? If you are running your business the same way, of course the answer will be a no. However, if you apply other strategies to grow your business, the target that you set is possible to achieve.

For instance, you must study the market, create a solid business proposal, raise capital through investments, widen your market by creating more fruits-related products such as organic fruit, invest in research and development to build a strong brand, come up with ideas that can expand your business both nationally and internationally instead of just running your business in shop, create dried fruits product that can sell around the globe, set up franchise system and grow your business to the next level and so on.

Now, do you think that making $100,000 a month is possible? Of course it is. The only different is in your strategies that you are going to use to achieve your goals. This is why your goals are important and they must be specific enough.

Your goals will determine your strategies. Thus, if you set low goals, your mind will come up with mediocre strategies to achieve those goals. On the other hand, if you set high goals, your mind will come up with strategies to achieve those high goals.

And you have to understand this, it does not matter what goal you set, all goals are achievable, it is just a matter of strategies. If you use the wrong strategies, you will produce the wrong results. If you use the right strategies, you will create the results that you want.

Now you know why having a clear and specific goal is important. So look back at your goals right now and ask yourself whether they are clear and specific. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable and with a deadline when you will achieve them.

Remember, always make sure your goals are measurable so that you can know the process and know how far you are from your goals. When you know your numbers, you can come up with better and more efficient strategies to achieve them.

Finally, take action and do something to accomplish what you have set to achieve. Do not just talk and dream about it, do something everyday and make sure you are making progress toward it. Think about the future that you want all the time. Imagine what if you achieve all the goals that you have set. And imagine what if you did not achieve any of the goals that you set and you are still living in mediocre after 5 years from now. How does it feel?

So start now and take massive action today.

Keep Your Goals In Mind

Setting goal is something easy to do, but keeping them in your mind will be another story. A lot of people know how to set their goals and they know what they want to accomplish in their lives, however, they are not keeping these goals in their mind.

In other words, you have to consistently reviewing your goals from time to time. If possible, review your goals once in the morning after you wake up and once at night time before you go to bed. What you need to do is just to read your goals, affirm them and if possible, visualize about them.

The reason most people are not taking action is that they forgot about their goals and their dreams. Most people will forget about what they have set to achieve in the next few minutes. Therefore, you need to consistently reviewing your goals so that you will actually condition them into your subconscious mind.

It is just like when I tell you about burger, highly likely, the first thing that will come into your mind is McDonald. How about if I talk about professional basketball player? Who will come into your mind in the first place? Is it Michael Jordan?

Well, what comes up in your mind is not really that important here, the key is that how come when I talk about something like basketball or golf, you will automatically link and think about that particular thought?

There are a few answers to the question above. It can be because of a strong emotion that makes you link that thought or maybe it can be because you have been bombarded your mind consistently with the same thought in a particular event.

What I mean here is that you must do the same in goal setting. You must link your goals into your subconscious so that you will take action automatically to achieve them.

This is why reviewing your goal consistently is so important. When you review and think about your goals consistently, you are actually making it a habit to think about it. And in the same time, linking what you want to accomplish in your life into your subconscious mind.

And when this happened, you will automatically take action to move toward your goals. Your subconscious mind will search and look for important events and activities that will lead you toward your goals. This is how great people are able to accomplish amazing results in their lives.

Successful people do not only know what they want, they know what they want and they think about it most of the time. It is what you think about most of the time that will make you the person you want to be.

You will become who you think about most of the time

The easiest way to find out what you think about most of the time is by looking at your life right now. If you are in financial trouble now, most likely you are thinking about all the bad things about your business and finances. Maybe you are worrying about your business, thinking about how hard the economy is, how difficult to close a sale and so on.

Your outer world actually reflects your inner world. Thus, look at your life right now. Take a few minutes to really think about it.

So are you satisfied with your life right now? If your answer is a no, congratulations, because you know you know you want a better life and you definitely can achieve it.

Oftentimes, it is the dissatisfaction that will create a better life. If everything is fine and right for you, you will never go through change.

What to do now?

So what you need to do right now is very simple. I believe that you know what you want to accomplish and you have your dreams to achieve in the future. What you need to do is to consistently reviewing them everyday.

Here are some suggestions that you can do. You can create a vision board, cutting out all the related pictures of your dreams and paste them on the board. This can help you to visualize your dreams easily. In the same time, you can also create affirmations to help you from time to time. You can repeat the affirmations whenever you are free.

The main problem most people face with goal setting is that they cannot stay focused with their goals all the time.

Are You Ready For The Year 2010?

The year 2009 is going to end soon. What have you done in this year? Have you improved the quality of your life? Do you achieve your goals? Are you living the life you desire?

Now, close your eyes and take 10 minutes to think about all the stuff you’ve done in year 2009.

Think about what you have done this year.

Are you still making the same amount of money?

Are you getting healthier?

Do you achieve the goals you want?

I’ll strongly suggest that you keep a journal of your life. This is because a life that is worth living, it is worth recording. Even if you’re not living the life you want or you close down your business this year, it is still a good experience and it is worth recording.

If you’re not living the kind of life you want or you still haven’t achieved most of your goals, this post is going to help you.

Now, rate all the results you got in the year 2009. Rate the quality of your life and all the actions you have taken this year.

1 will be the lowest point while 10 will be the highest.

If you’re not getting a 9 or a 10, ask yourself this question right now, “What will I have to do in order to make it a 10?”

When you ask this question, your mind will start to look for the answers.

For example, if you rate your financial life to be 5, and you asked this question, you’ll come up with answers such as you’ll need to take more action, learn and improve your investment portfolio, write and submit more articles for your internet business and so on and so forth.

This question is the question that helps almost every successful people achieve amazing results in their life.

Now we’re reaching the end of year 2009, and it is time for you to do a review on what you’ve done over the year. Once you’ve done this, you must ask yourself what can you do to improve the quality of your life.

So the year 2009 is over and the year 2010 is coming, are you ready for it?

Time will surely past and the year 2010 will also be gone when the time comes. So how are you going to spend 2010? Are you going to just ignore it and don’t bother about it? Or are you going to plan how you’re going to live and what you’re going to accomplish in 2010?

The thing is, when you know what you want to accomplish in your life, you will set a clear direction of where you should be heading.

Most people live 2009 without a clear direction. This is why they’re still doing the same thing, creating the same lousy results in their life and hence, living a mediocre life.

Ask yourself, “Is this what I really want in my life?”

Year 2010 will surely arrive and it will surely past as well. The question now will be, how are you going to live it?

Do you want to live the way you always do and produce the same old results? Or are you going to do something different that will give you a new life and new experiences in life?

And once you’ve gone through this exercise, take out your goals book to write down at least 10 goals that you are going to achieve in the year 2010.

If you want a successful life, you’ve to do it right now. It is what you do now that will determine what you’re going to get in the future. If you want to be a rich in the future, you’ll have to take action and earn more money right now.

Don’t wait until the time comes, it will be too late. So take your time to design your life right now. Know what you want to achieve in the year 2010 and the years ahead.

How To Live From Good To Great

From all the books I’ve read in the past, what I’ve learned is that if you want to live your life from good to great, you must commit to one thing – constant and never ending improvement!

Anthony Robbins, one of my favorite success gurus, called it CANI – Constant And Never Ending-Improvement.

Yes, if you want to produce amazing results in your life, you must learn constantly. If you want to be the top in your industry or the field you’re in, you must strive to improve all the time.

This is how Japan become one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world. The Japanese constantly improve the quality of their cars because they commit to CANI, or in Japanese, they called it Kaizen.

And this is exactly what you need if you want to turn your life from good to great.

Take reading for example, if you commit to read a book in a month, you’ll have read 12 books in a year. And do you think this 12 books are going to change the way you look at life and help you to improve your life in a year?

Obviously, the answer is a BIG YES!

If a book will change your life by just a little bit, by the end of a year, you’ll totally become a new person who lives a great life. What if you read two books in a month? Will you speed up the process? You bet!

Anthony Robbins read more than 700 books in the field of personal development, which is what makes the top person in this related area and he makes millions of dollars in this industry.

Leaders are readers. Constantly improving yourself little by little, you’re going to create big changes after a long time. The key is consistency. You’ve to consistently take small action each and everyday to improve the quality of your life. Do you know that the first best time to plant a tree is when you were born into this world? And do you know when is the second best time to plant it? The second best time is now!

So commit yourself to constant and never ending improvement from now on. If you have missed the chance of making it as a habit in the past, now will be the perfect time for you. And don’t wait for another 10 years to do this. You don’t have much time left to waste.

This is how successful people are able to turn their life around. In the beginning, they may seem like doing something that is wasting their time and yield no results. However, after a long time, their effort will start to pay off. This is the real power of consistency.

And this is the power that you must learn and acquire right now. It will change your life forever.

10 Tips How To Make Your Goals Come True

Having difficulty in making your goals come true? Here are 10 tips that can help you…

1. Be specific with your goals, set a deadline for each of them and write them down on a piece of paper.

I believe that this is a very common tip that I don’t have to explain any further.

2. Paste the piece of paper where you have your goals written down on the wall somewhere you can see often.

You can also put it on the table of your desk. The key in doing this is to remind yourself of your goals all the time. Trust me, it works. If you don’t believe it, just try it. Just put the paper somewhere you can see often, and whenever you see it, you will know what to do to make it come true.

3. Create positive motivation to inspire you to take action.

Most people fail to take action to make their goals come true simply because they are not motivated enough to take action. What you can do here is to create some positive motivation to keep you going. For example, if your family is your biggest motivation, you can also include a picture of your family in your goals’ paper.

Find out what motivates you and use it to help you to take the necessary action. If your goal is to stop smoking and your daughter is your biggest motivation, think of her whenever you want to smoke.

4. Make use of the punish and reward system.

Punish yourself whenever you fail to take action and reward yourself if you successfully did what you supposed to do. For example, you can reward yourself by taking a nap or watching a movie if you follow through and take action to make your goals come true.

On the other hand, you can punish yourself with late sleep or no entertainment if you fail to follow through. This way, you will train your mind and body to work according to what you focus on.

5. Spend 15 minutes everyday to visualize the achievement of your goals.

This is another common tip that you can apply to realize your goals. By seeing it in your mind, you will tend to be more motivated and you will send messages to the universe and telling the universe what you want. Successful people do this all the time. They can see it clearly in their mind what they want before they finally achieve it.

6. Take at least 1 or 3 action steps that will lead you to your goals everyday.

Nothing is going to happen to you if you are not taking any action. Even if you spend time visualize or look at your goals’ paper everyday, if you are not doing anything, nothing will ever happen. So take at least 1 or 3 action steps that will bring you toward your goals everyday.

7. Make a public commitment about your goals.

Are you serious about achieving your goals? If you do, make a public commitment about it. Tell everyone about what you want to accomplish in your life. Tell your wife about your goals, tell your parents about your goals, tell your friends and colleagues about your goals and when you are going to achieve them.

If you do this, you will leave yourself with no other option but to make your goals come true. This is simply because your reputation is at stake. If you do not do what it takes to make your goals come true, your friends and colleagues may laugh at you. Thus, this will force you into a situation where you have burnt all the bridges. As a result, you will take serious action and produce real results.

8. Measure and review your progress and results.

You will never know whether you are moving one step closer to your goals if you are not measuring the results you are getting. You have to know your position and align your course in order to get to where you are. If you sense that you are not producing the results you want, it is either you are not taking enough action, or the strategy you are using is incorrect. You will then have to change your strategy to produce the results you want.

If you are producing the results you want, congratulations. Take even more action to get yourself even more results.

9. Never forget about the reasons why you want to achieve your goals.

It is the reason that inspire you to setting your goals. So make sure you keep in mind why you want to achieve what you want in your life. When you are down, try to recall why you set the goals in the first place. Your reasons deep in your heart are the source of motivation. Always remember this.

10. Practice all the tips above for at least 21 days.

Studies have shown that in order for a new habit to form, you need to practice it every single day for at least 21 day. It is not difficult in the beginning. It is just like moving to a new environment, you will feel odd with your act, but soon you will get use to it because your mind has formed the neuro connection required.

It is the same here. Practice good habit for at least 21 days and that habit will be with you forever. Most people never question how they brush their teeth every morning. Do you notice how you brush your teeth in the morning? It is exactly the same way as always. That is what I mean by habit. Once you formed a new habit, you will do things exactly the same way everyday.

By following through all the 10 tips here, I strongly believe that achieving your goals will never be a problem anymore. Go on and apply these tips for at least 1 month and you will see the amazing results.
