Traffic is the dream of every bloggers. And I believe I’ve repeat this phrase over and over again. Traffic is the veins of your blog. Without traffic, your blog is just going to be a site that nobody will visit, and it will become a waste because every of your post has got nobody to read it.

Increase traffic is good, but increase your blog’s readership is also another important task that you will need to do if you want to have more repeated visitors. Some said to attract new visitor is more difficult than making your visitor loyal to you and back for more. It has got some truth in it though. If you notice, the current market trend has been switching slowly to maintaining customer relationship.

Conduct Contests
Yes, you can conduct a contest using your blog. Its all depends on your creativity. You must think out of the box, and create something interesting. For example, I’ve seen a lot of people create this kind of contest, the author asked their readers to drop quality comments, the more the better. And after some time, the author will award the top commentators with rewards. What kind of rewards? It can be many types, like I said, depends on your creativity. Most of the rewards are link back, a review of your blog. Some even pay for people who did this.

There is basically another type of activity you can host using your blog. It is not contest type, but it will benefit both readers and the blog author. Well, it may seems like this, “I will stumble, fave, digg, and review your blog for only $5. (I got this idea from Lisa, you can take part in this activity too.)” I’ve come across this kind of offer, maybe you’ve come across this kind of offer too. So you see, its all about creativity. Everything happens twice, once in your mind, and in reality. Think out of the box, do things creatively.

Polling Activities
There is a feature in Blogger that allow you to conduct a poll. In fact I never used this feature before. But this definitely can help you increase your blog’s readership. You can have your readers vote for their favourite blogs, websites or anything that is related to your blog’s topic. Besides that, you can also conduct a poll regarding current issues. Capture your visitors by asking them to leave their precious thoughts in your blog. If your poll is about current social issues, better. You can ask visitors to drop their thoughts and help increase the social awareness.

Comments
Well, I’ve talk a little bit about using comments to raise your traffic and maintain readership in How To Maintain Your Readership, actually this method is very easy to understand and implement. The matter is that whether you have the patience or not. You must know the reason why you are letting people comments in your blog. The first reason is of course you want to have an active blog community with you, you want to have people to read and leave their opinions in your blog post. Other reason like letting people to comments on your blog, so you can improve in certain sections of your blog.

You can always return comments by visiting those people who comments in your blog. This is the best way you can increase and maintain your readership. You can even make friends with this method. However, if there are too many comments in your blog, you will having a busy time to reply their comments. Therefore you can always do this when you free, say, after your new post. By the way, don’t forget to change the setting in your blog to allow anyone can leave comment in your blog.
