Many people know that goal setting is a MUST DO if they want to achieve their goals. However, most of them DID NOT know what they should do after setting their goals. That is why they lose the drive that keeps them going in their journey to success. It is important to set goals. Without goals, you will reach nowhere in your life, because you don’t even know where you want to go in the first place.
Besides that, goals can help to make us stay focused in the direction we’re heading. If you are still doubtful about goal setting, read this article of mine, Why You Need to Set Goals Today. Once you went through that article, you will understand the importance of goal setting and why you need to have a goal today, after reading this post!
So let us get started. What you should do once you have set your goals?
1. Develop Momentum
Yes, you have to do this, it is a MUST. If you did not do this, you are not going to create the momentum that keeps you going from the beginning until the end. Momentum is something like it is hard for you to move when you stay static, but once you start to move, it is hard to stop you down. Therefore, this is the reason you need to create momentum, to keep you going without stopping down.
So how can you build your momentum? Very easy. Let me give you an example here. Let’s say that your goal is to buy a sports car, take Honda Civic as example. Once you have set your goal to buy it, you can develop the momentum by visiting to your nearest car dealer, have a test drive! You can also ask for brochures about the car, search for pictures and set them as your wallpapers. However, the effect will not be as strong as having a test drive.
The moment you do all these, your mind will tell you that it is a must to achieve your goal, your mind will condition that goal as an important goal that must be achieved. This is how you can develop your momentum. Of course, there are also other ways you can use to build up your momentum. For instance, if your goal is to be a millionaire, you can sign-up for courses and seminars, pay the deposit, and go to your local bookstore and buy some wealth books.
That is how momentum can be developed. By the way, make sure that you develop your momentum within 72 hours after setting your goals. This will ensure the maximum effectiveness.

2. Make Public Commitment
You know that by simply setting a goal, you will still procrastinate and won’t achieve it. So the next thing you must do after you have set your goal is this, make a public commitment. This way, you leave yourself no way out but to achieve the goals that you have set. Think about it, if your goal is to be a millionaire in 3 years, and if you tell everyone of your friends, what will they do to you?
Are they going to laugh at you? Well, maybe. However, it is good if they laugh at you. It makes you ever more eager to achieve the dreams of yours. This is how public commitment works. Many people are afraid of their dreams going public, they scare to death that their parents and friends will laugh at them. Do you think that people laugh at Thomas Edison the moment he told the whole world that he is going to invent something that can emit light?
You bet, people even labeled him as crazy. The same thing goes to the Wright Brothers who invented airplanes. When they told people that they wanted to fly to the sky, people laughed at them. But, look at the reality now, did they achieved their wildest dreams? You know the answer.
Hence, if you are serious in your dreams and goals, make a public commitment after you have decided to achieve them. Leave yourself no way out, and you will do whatever it takes to make it come true (In the sense of moral and ethics of course). (Your Fuel to Success, Commitment)
What if you fail to achieve your goals? Think about it, if you set your goal to earn $1 million a year, and you have made the public commitment, but you failed. What is going to happen? What if you just make $500,000 a year and not $1 million? Isn’t that $500,000 still something great? So, even if you fail to achieve what you want, you will still at least achieve something. It is better than sitting there and wait for something to happen!
3. Write Down Your Goals and Bring Them With You
I believe that you have heard this over and over again. You have to write down your goals. Without writing them down, your goals will remain dreams. You have to understand why successful people do this. Because they understand that by writing their goals down and keep on viewing them, it is going to condition their mind, it is going to remind them that they still have something to do or to achieve.
Do not underestimate the power of writing down your goals and bring them anywhere with you! If you can do this, you will see that energy starts flowing through your body, and you will have all the drive to keep you going.
So write down your goals today, stick them anywhere, in your desk, in your car, in your office, etc. This is how you can remind yourself about your goals and this is how you can keep your energy at the highest level.
Another thing is this, make sure that you review your goals every time before you go to bed, and every time after you have woke up. I believe that you know the reasons that you need to do this right? (Having a Clear Goal is Not Enough)
4. Join a Mastermind Group
In order to keep the positive energy flowing all the time, what you need to do is to find a mastermind group, and join that group. A mastermind group is a group that shares the same thoughts and goals. You need to find one to constantly motivate yourself there.
It is easy to find one. You can head to any discussion board or forums to do so. Or you can join groups like Yahoo Groups or Google Groups. Join their discussion and see how other people who have the same dreams as you tackle their goals. This way, you will be exposing to the positive environment that keeps you going. Motivation is not like something that you can do for one day and you will be motivated the whole year. You have to do motivate yourself everyday.
So there you have it, the 4 things that you MUST DO after you have set your goals. Make sure that you do not leave out any of these 4 things. If you are really serious in achieving what you want, I believe that you will follow the steps here.
One more thing, right after you finish off this article, make sure that you have your goals written. If you still don’t have a goal today, SET ONE before you leave.
