If you want to create spectacular results and be more productive in your life, you’ll have to learn how to direct your focus.
Remember, it is what you think in your mind that will determine your life.
If you’re someone pessimistic and keep thinking about bad things, you definitely won’t be living a good life.
However, if you’re someone positive and always think about the brighter side, do you think you’ll live a happy life?
Of course you will! It’s a common sense. You’re who you think you are!
Well, if you want to learn how to direct your thoughts, I have 3 secrets for you. These are not secrets actually, they’re common in your life, but because most people never realize its power and never truly utilize them, they become under-utilize strategies to direct your focus.
Secret #1 - Ask the right question
The first secret to directing your thoughts is the question you use to ask yourself. If you ask the right question, you will get the right answer that will lead you to where you want to be.
Think about it, you’re always talking to yourself. And in fact, you’re asking yourself questions all the time. So instead of asking lousy questions unconsciously, learn to tackle your subconscious and always ask positive questions that will bring you toward your goals.
No matter what you think about in your head, you’re either asking question or evaluating something. If you’re thinking, “I’m so handsome”, you’re evaluating your appearance.
When you fail to close a sale, you can ask disempowering questions such as “how come I’m so stupid?” or “see, told ya, I’m going to lose the sale” or “how come I just can’t close sales?”
If you ask these kind of questions, your brain will search for answers and you’ll end up feeling lousy and disempowering.
On the other hand, if you ask empowering questions such as “what can I learn from this?” or “what should I do to improve my results?” Your brain will search for the answers and empowers you.
It is all about the questions or the evaluation you make in your mind that will determine your feeling, your action and ultimately, your destiny.
Secret #2 - Use the right word
Once you knew what questions you need to ask yourself to help you stay focused in your direction, you must use the right words.
Everyone has a different meaning for the words they have in their mind. Let me give you an example…
What do you think about the word “success”? For some people, it is a word that represents wealth and freedom. While for others, it is a word that represents intimate relationship, power and pride.
It depends on what you associate the meaning of the words that you’re going to use in your life. If you want to direct your focus, you must use the correct words that will empower you to stay positive all the time.
Remember, your voice, your tonality, your physiology and your words are all interlink together.
So use your words wisely. Use words that will lower the intensity of putting you into a lousy state. For instance, you can use the word uncomfortable instead of saying you’re afraid. Or you can substitute the word failure with learning.
Secret #3 - Be conscious
Sometimes, you’ll never know whether you’re controlling your thoughts. This is because your subconscious is in function.
For example, the first time you watch a ghost movie, you may scare to death at certain scene. This is because you don’t know it is happening and your mind does not prepare for it.
However, if you watch it the second time, you’ll never get shocked again. Why? It is because your mind has prepared for it.
Now, the key is this, if you want to learn how to direct your focus, you must first be aware of what you’re focusing on.
Sometimes when you’re reading something, you’ll slowly divert your thinking until you focus on other thoughts. During that moment, you’ll never know what you’re reading. Your mind is focusing on other thoughts but you’re still reading.
After you notice you’re not focusing on what you’re reading, you’ll tell your mind to come back to read what you’re reading. Does this happen to you before?
Therefore, if you want to direct your focus of your thoughts, you must first be conscious and know what you’re focusing. If you don’t you can never change it. You cannot repair something that you don’t know is broken.
So I hope these 3 secrets are going to help you to have a better focus in your thoughts.
