10 Common Blogging Mistakes (Part 2)

June 17th, 2007

Here is the continue of 10 Common Blogging Mistakes, if you’ve not yet read the Part 1 of this post, you can always read it here, 10 Common Blogging Mistakes – Part 1. I hope that you won’t make any of these mistakes after you’ve read them here. The following 5 common mistakes are:

6. Poor Link Description
Have you ever come across to some blogs or websites that have links on it, but the links don’t have any description. For example :
You can find more info about it here and here.
This will make your readers confuse and they don’t know where the link will lead them to. Make sure that your link has proper description. Your readers are not you, they don’t know what you’re doing if you don’t explain it. If you want your readers to stay longer and read more about your post, you will have to make your readers understand what you’re going to say about.

7. Links To Other Blogs
Blogs are meant for people to publish their opinions, ideas and voices about what they think. Therefore, you can introduce and recommend your readers about what you like to read about too, so they can enjoy what you likes as well. Blog is a space for people to amplify each other’s opinions and voices. Not only so, by linking to each others blog, you will enlarge the network of information sharing on the web. Do not worry about linking with your competitors, generosity is the key. Besides that, by competition, only then your blog’s quality will increase, in other words, without competition, there’s no reason that your blog’s quality will rise.

8. Poor Posting Content
No one will read something that is poorly written, boring and difficult to read. In reality, only 30% of people will finish a book or audio program that they’ve bought. Well, here are some tips for you when you’re writing a post :

  • Be sure that you write something on your own. Don’t copy and paste, you’ll get penalised by search engine.
  • Use simple language that your readers can understand, don’t use jargon that your readers don’t understand and sometimes even you yourself not sure of the meaning.
  • Try not to introduce too many ideas in a single post, you can always add your ideas in another posts.
  • Make sure that your writing in a single post is not very long. Although your post content can be very informative, but if it is too long, your readers might not finish it or some even lazy to read. You can make your divide your post into a few parts, just like this post, I separate it into Part 1 and Part 2.

9. Missing ‘About’ Section
I’ve come across some blogs that don’t have the ‘About’ section. For bloggers, this ‘About’ section is a must. You need to let your readers know more about you, readers need to know who they’re dealing with. Here, you can write something about yourself, your hobbies, what you do for living and etc. The more you let readers know about you, the more friendly they will be, thus the more they can trust you and your blog. If possible, you might consider to insert your photo, this will increase your credibility and impression of your blog. Some people said including an author photo is a must for blogs, this is because it shows that you’ve got nothing to hide from your readers, and if you have many readers, faces work better than names, they can recognise you better.

10. Too Many Ads
Seen these kind of blogs before? Their whole blog are surrounded by ads. When there are too many ads in a blog, you might make your readers confuse between your content and your ads. Yes indeed you wish to make money from your blog, but sometimes reducing the number of ads is a better way to increase your profit. Some of the ads might bring down the quality of your blog, and some people said if you want to have a quality blog, don’t put ads. (What do you think about the ads in my blog? Comments are welcome)

Ok, these are the 10 common blogging mistakes that I think most bloggers did. In fact, there are many mistakes you can make in blogging, so what are the other mistakes? It will be left for you to discover yourself. The most important thing is that you learn from your mistakes, and the best is learn from other’s mistakes. Don’t repeat other’s mistakes.

But mistakes also work as an experience for our success. Basically, no people never made any mistakes before. Everyone make mistakes, especially highly successful people, the mistakes they made are much more and bigger than ours. To be a Millionaire you will need to make a million mistakes before you can be success.

Lets get into our topic today. So what are the common mistakes that blogger often done? Below are 10 common mistakes that bloggers often made. Go through them, maybe you’re doing one of the mistakes below.

1. Bad Titles
Avoid funny headlines or titles that is not suitable to the content of your post. Make sure that the title of your post must be related with the content of your post. This is very important because usually readers will first view through your post title, then only decide whether to read your post. If you have a bad title, then great, you will lost readers. By the way, don’t use all capital letters in all of your titles, sometimes this will make it hard to read, and you will lost your precious readers.

2. Not Linking Back To Old Posts
Whenever your newer post is related with your older post, you can direct or recommend your readers to it. Maybe your old posts have some important information that the readers need, or maybe it may contain good quality content. If you’re not linking to your older posts, most of them will be buried your blog archive and this will make them difficult to find. In addition, with links to your older posts, the search engine spiders can crawl through your blogs more easily, this will help your blog updates more faster.

3. Categorized Your Posts
Another common mistake often made by bloggers is that their posts are not properly categorized. Use the category or label widget provided for you. Be sure that your post does not categorised in almost every category, be selective and categorized your post correctly. For a normal blog, ten to twenty categories should be fine, this should be a very vast topic to be discuss. If more than twenty then it will be a lot, and your blog will looks messy.

4. Post Regularly
For most bloggers, post and update your blog everyday will be the best. This is also great if your blog is still new, post and update your blog everyday is best. Choose the right time to post, don’t simply post without knowing what to write, you will make you content quality fall, and you will lose your readers. If you find that you’ve got nothing to post about, you can go through here, read Quality Content section under How To Increase Stickiness. Get some idea of what you’re going to write about before you post. Furthermore, don’t leave your blog untouch for the whole weeks or even months, your blog will become a ghost town.

5. Get Your Own Domain Name
The first thing to do once you’ve make some money from your blog is to buy your own domain name. The domain name is very cheap, roughly around $10 a year only. (Ok you might ask why I still don’t have my own domain name for this blog. Well, there are few reasons, because www.themillionairesecrets.com had been bought by somebody else, I’m still not yet making any money from this blog, but the main reason is that I’m learning on how to make profits from blogs, once I see money flowing in, I will buy my own domain name, it’s kind of hard to explain, hope you will understand.) Remember, if you’re using other people’s domain, like .blogspot.com or .wordpress.com, your blog’s destiny is in their hand. They can ban you or stop your blog anytime. I’ve seen cases like this. Beware.

How To Increase Stickiness

HOW TO INCREASE STICKINESS

Hi, welcome back to The Millionaire Secrets. I just came back from my Redang trip, it is a great trip, and I enjoy it a lot. Well, let’s get back to our topic. So what is the stickiness of a website or a blog? Stickiness is basically how long a visitor stay on your website. Maybe it is because your website contains the information the visitor wanted, or it may be because of other factors. Why do you need a high stickiness? Some people said higher stickiness means higher sales conversion you will get, well there are some truth in this statement. This is because the higher the stickiness of your visitors, the visitors tend to explore your website more, and hence the chances of sales conversion will be higher. The Design
Ok, there are a few ways you can increase your stickiness, one of them is through the design of your website or blog. A good website or blog design will not bring any traffic to you, but it definately will increase the stickiness of your website or blog. If you have a poor website design, poor navigation and layout, then the visitors won’t stay long in your website. Just imagine that you have a mini market, the design and all your goods are not in place, they are not compile according to catagories, this will make your customers feel irritated, it is very hard for them to look for the things that they wanted to buy. So same theory apply here in your website and your blog.

Often, here in Blogger.com, there are plenty of similar layout and blog design. Therefore it is best if you can create and design your own blog layout and navigation. You don’t want your blog and website to be the same with others don’t you. You can get website templates easily from searches in any search engine. Just like my blog, this is a 3 column template, and I found it using search engine as well. There are many other types of templates out there, depends on your taste, choose the one that suits you the most. To look more special, you can create your own header.

You can always go through other people’s blogs and get some ideas about their blog or website design. What I always do is that I will bookmark nice blog that I come across with, and get some rough idea and learn from their website. If they have a successful website or blog, better, learn from their website and blog, what makes them success.

Quality Content
Design of website and blog is just one of the way to increase stickiness. There is another way you can increase stickiness and to attract visitors from coming back. That is the quality of your content. Most of our websites and blogs are full with content, thus, you need to make sure that your website and blog’s content must be of certain quality, only then visitors will stay and read and come back for more. Well, I don’t dare to say that my blog content has a good quality, but I’ve tried to write it with my own words and hope that it can help you (Comments are always welcome, only then I will know whether my content is good or poor, so that I can improve).

There is a saying goes ‘Content Is King’, this is true in cyberspace, people are looking for information, so you can’t simply copy and paste other people’s effort. If you are found doing this, search engine will penalised your website or blog, then you’re off from business. Try to use your own words to write your content, then add up some of your own ideas, this will be the best. If you really out of idea, here are some suggestions for you.

You can always use search engine and search for any topics that you would like to write about, get the ideas from other websites. Save those articles and website or blog contents that you feel interesting about when you come across it, you may refer back to these information or ideas when you want to write something about it. And this works great. You can also browse through article directories when you’re out of ideas on what to write about.

Ok, these are all the tips to increase stickiness of your website or blog. I hope that this information here will help you. If you want to know more about blogging tips and how to make money from blogs, you might read about Blogging Tips. Comments are welcome. Keep It Going!

You may need to explain to them why their business need a blog. There’s a book name Why Should My Business Have A Blog might explain all the reasons. This method of making money with blogs may sound odd, but this method do works. You have to contact a company and offer them, telling them that you’re the blogger that they’re looking for.

Sponsor By Company
This way is more difficult because you need to be popular, either with your website or your blog. When your blogs or websites have become popular, people might offer you a sponsorship. They might put their products or services on your blog. This method is not possible if your blog traffic is low.

Be A Blogger
This, you can register to be a part time blogger for a certain company. All you need to do is to write blogs for certain company, and they will paid you. You can either register for fixed payment in exchange for 10 posts a week or a percentage of the ads revenue. You can find this kind of site here, Weblogs Inc.

Make Your Blog A Business Site
As you know, blogging has grown rapidly since the moment it was introduced. Therefore, you can create a blog just for selling your products or services to the users online. Many people has done this. You make your blog site into your business website, and promote it.

The Sure Way To Be Millionaire

June 1st, 2007

Interesting topic? I’ve got a guaranteed way to make you a Millionaire. Don’t believe? It is ok if you don’t believe it, because most of us will think that to be a Millionaire is not an easy task. But if you follow my strategy which I will tell you how later, I’m sure you can be a Millionaire. But before that, you will need to understand what are the way to be a Millionaire.

Millionaire

Basically, to be a Millionaire, we can conclude every of the strategies into two categories. One is the short route, and the other is the long route. The guarantee way is through the long route, unfortunately, almost everyone of us here don’t have the patience to go in this route. However, as for the short route, the time taken will be short, maybe 5 years, maybe 3 years. But this route is much more challenged. There are many strategies you can use to be a Millionaire in this short route, you can climb the Millionaire Mountains of your choice.

Now for the long route, it is the surest and easiest way to be a Millionaire. However, by using this route, you will need to wait for a long long time, only then your dreams will come true. Maybe it will take up to 10 years, 20 years, some even 50 years. The problem here is, do you have the time to achieve this? Ok, how can you achieve this? Let me explain. Let’s say if you save $1 everyday, then one month you will saved $30. Now, study the chart below

How $1 Per Day Grow Into $1,000,000
% Interest……………………….Number of Years Required to Reach One Million
3% ………………………………….147 Years
5% ………………………………….100 Years
10% ………………………………..56 Years
15% ………………………………..40 Years
20% ………………………………..32 Years

Now, you might say, but we need to find an investment that yield at least 10% if we want to be a Millionaire in our lifetime. Yes, you are right, we need to find investment yield of 10%, but the bank only offers us around 3%. So how can you achieve this?

The answer is very simple, let’s say if you want to follow this route, you’ve got the time and patience to make this happen, but you don’t dare to take the risk for 10% investment yield. You just need to remember this, in fact, there is not necessary must have at least 10% investment yield, all you need to do is to raise the money that you need to save. Save as much as you can every month, be it $10, $50, $100 or $300. With the right interest rate and given enough time, everyone can be a Millionaire. This proved that everyone, if start saving and keep compounding the money from a young age, everyone can be a Millionaire.

The long route is not what we want here, we want to make money in a faster method, not just sitting and wait for 50 years. It’s been proven that with the right strategy, with constant action plus a burning desire, we can be a Millionaire in a short time. But when you’re creating rapid wealth, why don’t you save your money every month and keep compounding it? We take the short route and the long route at the same time, it’s easy and it’s simple to save and compound your money. It can be automatically deducted from your bank account. Pay yourself first everytime you get your paycheck, put some amount of money to your investment account every month once you received your paycheck. Then only spend what you have as you wish. And bear in mind of this, don’t spend more than what you earn.

In conclusion, what will you get? You will be a Millionaire no matter what happens, it is just a matter of time, it is just a matter of sooner or later. Agree with me? So what are you waiting for? Start planning on how much to save each month now.
